Update on Lena for August!

Today we went out to the Safeway grocery store.
Mom walked to the car with me,
and we tossed the wheel chair into the trunk of daddy's Subaru














Dad and mom really like cookies.
We spent a lot of time in this area.

















Also, they looked at already cooked foods.









and Frozen dinners too













Outside of the store, we spent a long time watching this crazy bird at the Pet Store next to the food store. Mom thought this was not a real bird. haha

Mom is doing great. She is walking!
Nicky is the physical therapist. She is wonderful!

She uses a hemi-walker or a cane, but she can also walk alone if you hold on to her.

 She is very careful and steady.

 Mom has exercises given to her by Nicky. She has to do them twice a day!
Mom does not like doing the exercises but she must do them to get stronger.
Since March, she was laying in bed for three months before she started feeling strong enough to walk, so now she has to get strong again!

Dad is a great man, he is so encouraging and always being so positive.
He loves to take care of mom.
He needs rest though. ...
We have found home caretakers for the morning and evening. These are nice women that come to see mom and dad and help them. They help mom the most, and give dad some rest. He has always been here for mom. Every day!
I think my dad is such a wonderful and honorable man.
I love my mom and dad very much. I know this move so far from their own home has been really traumatic. This entire 5 months has been a test of physical and mental strength for all of us.
When we took mom out of that rehabilitation place, we really wanted mom to get better, but it still looked like we would have a lot of work ahead.
Then it seems only a week away from that place, mom was eating better, and improving quickly in all things.
They have been here, in Virginia, a little more than a month.
I like having them close to me. Rex and I can help them and check on them every day.

We actually bought a smaller wheelchair for inside the house. Dad is sitting on that.
Mom is sitting on the chair that we now use only for outside!

-- my dad is very funny. Today he asked me if he could ask the caretaker to bake some oatmeal cookies with some oatmeal they have hahahahaaa
